Rice Bowl

The annual Rice Bowl is an exciting and fun tournament among the members of the Asian American Student Union. Its goal is to promote and encourage open communication, interaction, and unity between AASU sub-organizations, as well as introduce and acclimate freshmen and transfer students to the existing organizations through these games. Teams will compete in six creative events. They are wet n’ wild consisting of slippery obstacles, soaking wet craziness, and other amazing surprises. Complimentary lunch will be available during half time to refuel the competitors’ appetite for victory. The usual competitors come from four distinct groups: FSA, VSO, CASA, and KUSA. However, this year another cultural organization outside of AASU will participate to promote an even diverse community. Each sub-org will have two teams of 6 to represent them in the events. Teams will be comprised of 2 freshmen, 2 sophomores, 1 junior, and 1 senior. Each sub-org will have 2 designated captains, so talk to them if you are interested in becoming a member of the team. EVERYONE is invited to come and watch AASU Rice Bowl 2009!

Asian Food Festival

The Asian Food Festival, one of the largest events of Kaleidoscope Month, is a chance for a variety of Asian organizations all around UF campus to showcase their respective cultures through food. Each participating group will present their choice of entrees and desserts, which the audience is then invited to enjoy – at absolutely no cost! Furthermore, the dishes will be rated by the audience members themselves across several categories, including Best Main Course, Best Dessert and Best Overall.
Additionally, there will be live performances from fellow UF students, which (like the food) will vary widely. Past performances have ranged from singing and instrumentals to dance groups. This year, the winners of the AASU Talent Show will be performing, to emphasize Kaleidoscope Month’s “One” theme of unifying the many events.
So come out and enjoy the ONE FLAVOR that these different ingredients of the Asian organizations have combined to create…It’s sure to be delicious!
