About
Kaleidoscope Month is Asian and Asian American Awareness month at the University of Florida. It is a celebration of Asian American culture, history, and heritage hosted by UF’s Asian American Student Union. During mid-October to mid-November, K-month reaches the UF and Gainesville communities through various events and workshops, such as the Mr. and Miss AASU Pageant, the Asian Food Festival, and the Asian Arts and Entertainment Festival. In addition, K-month hosts many prominent Asian and Asian American speakers and entertainers, including past guests Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, Dat Phan, winner of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and Betty Nguyen, CNN correspondent. It is our goal that through these speakers and events, our community becomes more aware of and learns to appreciate our heritage.
Our goals are to:
A. Increase awareness of Asian American issues
B. Advocate for a Director of Asian/Pacific Islander American Affairs
C. Strengthen bonds and relations among UF’s Multicultural organizations
D. Educate the UF and Gainesville communities of Asian American culture, history and heritage
